Frequently Asked Questions
What are psychotherapy sessions like?
Psychotherapy sessions are made up of four different parts:
-
Understanding the difficulties you are facing, and identifying the thoughts and feelings behind it;
-
Learning different tools to reframe those thoughts, and identify and process the feelings;
-
Using and practicing those skills for your current difficulties;
-
Figuring out how to apply those skills you have learned to other parts of your life.
During our session, we will discuss these in the context of your unique experiences in a safe and comforting environment.
How do I know if psychotherapy will work for me?
If you feel like what you are dealing with is causing you to lose control over your life, psychotherapy can help you obtain that sense of purpose and fulfillment. As an expert with over 10 years of experience, you can be sure you are in good hands as I use evidence-based methodology and keep myself up-to-date on the latest scientific advancements.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
This is based on your individual needs. Some people feel that they can obtain the skills they need in 6-8 sessions, others feel better with a longer-term, supportive model. This depends on what you feel will work best for you, and we will continue to discuss and revise what is in your best interest.
